The Rambla de Sant Josep—better known as the Rambla
de les Flors from its many flower stalls—is also famous for its bird market, for
the Palau de la Virreina, a rococo palace built for the Viceroy of Peru and named
after his wife, and likewise for the Mercat de la Boqueria, most abundant of Mediterranean
food markets. Look down at the mosaic pattern on the pavement at the Plaça de
la Boqueria, designed by Joan Miró in the 1970s, and up at the Casa Bruno Quadras,
formerly an umbrella shop with an art nouveau or Modernista façade.
